National Association of Social Workers (NASW) — Member
Maria Perdunn
Maria Perdunn is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) and Licensed Social Worker (LSW). She works with adults, teens, youth, and families navigating a wide range of mental health and substance use challenges, bringing a deeply personal commitment to empowering each individual she serves.
Maria’s journey in the helping profession began in 2009, when she started teaching martial arts and life skills to children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This path led her into social work as a volunteer and intern with Catholic Charities, where she served women and children affected by domestic violence, assisted individuals experiencing homelessness, and supported community members through a local food pantry. She entered the field of mental health and substance use counseling in 2017, where she began providing individual, family, couples, and group counseling across residential, intensive-in-community, outpatient, and homeless prevention settings.
Maria’s approach centers on working collaboratively with clients to rise above stigma and gain control over their lives. She draws from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, tailoring her approach to the unique needs, strengths, and goals of each person she works with.
Beyond her clinical role, Maria remains deeply engaged in her community. She is an active member of street outreach serving the homeless and addicted population in Camden, NJ and Philadelphia, PA through Angels in Motion, and volunteers at Kate’s Place in Moorestown, NJ, a nonprofit program supporting developmentally delayed and handicapped teenagers and young adults. She is also a certified domestic violence hotline representative and a Head Martial Arts Instructor for individuals with behavioral concerns and special needs.
